St. Joseph’s residences are situated in an enclosed enclave, which are adjacent to the school and are now run by the C.I.D (Catholic Institute for the Deaf) and funded by the Health Board.

Many children who live in rural areas can feel isolated, boarding can open up a whole new world for them. They will be living in a signing environment, be able to identify with other individuals, learn communication skills and a sense of support for others.

The pupils are accommodated in six modern houses and travel home at weekends and for school holiday periods. Within the houses there is a high level of care offered by experienced childcare workers who are trained in sign language.

The houses cater for boys from the ages of 6 and upwards. The houses are called: -
Ardmore, Durrow, Kilmore, Cill Dara, Cloyne, Bangor
