Leaving Certificate Applied

The Leaving Certificate Applied is a two year programme which is designed to cater for the diversity of students needs at senior cycle. The programme is graded uses a mixture of ongoing assessment, practical tasks, together with a terminal examination. Each school year is divided into two sessions with a fixed number of modules completed in each session. Students receive credits for the completion of each module.

Students are required to complete seven tasks over a range of subjects during the programme. A task is a practical activity by which learning is applied to the development of a product, the investigation of an issue or the provision of a service.

An external examiner interviews the students on each of their tasks after which grades will be issued.
